A Message from Dr. Lewis:
We here at Wayside Animal Hospital are taking the Coronavirus, COVID-19 very seriously. We understand that we are the health care providers for your beloved pets, and we need to keep our doors open during this difficult time. We take this responsibility very seriously. Because of this, we wanted to share with all of you some of the things we are doing to keep ourselves and our clients protected.
We are asking that when you arrive for your appointment, you remain in your vehicle and give us a call to let us know that you have arrived. We will have a veterinary assistant come out to the car to speak with you, obtain your pet’s medical history, and bring your pet into the clinic. We ask that you remain in your car while we perform the necessary treatments for your pet. When your pet’s procedures have been completed, the veterinarian can call you from the clinic or come out to your car to discuss their findings. The front desk can then contact you for payment or when the lobby is clear of any other clients, you may come in to complete your transaction.
You will notice our staff wearing masks and maintaining a 6-foot social distance to the best of their ability. We are disinfecting and wiping down areas that are commonly touched and our staff is instituting a wash in and wash out policy between each appointment. This will also include the front desk; we are doing everything we can to limit contact between our staff and clients. Credit Card terminals will be left on the counter so the client can insert their own card and the machine will be wiped down after each transaction.
We are also requesting that any client suffering from upper respiratory symptoms not enter our office, we can always arrange a drop off and we can collect the history via the phone. Unfortunately, we will also be requesting that there be no shaking of hands when we greet each other.
We plan to reopen our Foothills location with limited days on Tuesday, May 19th. This location will be available by appointment only Tuesday through Thursday from 9am to 5pm. If you need assistance outside these hours, please contact our Jasper location.
On a final note we have launched a telemedicine service with our new partner TeleTails. You can download their app on your smartphone or tablet via the apple or android services. Once the app is downloaded, you will set up an account and enter our practice code: WAYSIDE. You will then be able to request a consultation. This allows us to offer video conference or text message capabilities for those who cannot come into our office. We will be able to diagnose some things via your history, pictures, or video, and we can even prescribe medications this way. There is a cost associated with this service. Of course, there will be some conditions/diseases that we cannot accurately diagnose via this service, and we will encourage you to come into the office for further testing. Once again, we do offer drop off services, if you do not want to enter the office.
We hope this gives you some degree of comfort knowing that we are doing everything in our power to serve our clients and our pets during this challenging time.
